We hand-build it from 100% copper at least 1.0 mm thick, finish it with a wide, rounded mushroom cap, and seal every welded union with lead-free tin-silver solder. There's no lead and none of the brass fittings that spoil a copper still's lines.
What should you know before buying a 19 gallon copper still?
First, the law: owning a still is legal in the US, but making spirits requires federal TTB permits. Second, plan your space and heat source for a pot this size. If anything is unclear, ask us. We'd rather answer your questions up front.
